Not going to stop 'till I make a difference!

This experience has been great for me with these students at Washington and because these students have given so much love, from one smile and one greeting, it makes my day every time that I go visit them. Even though that I go at husky period, which is not that long, it seems  like the best thirty-making- a - difference- minutes of my day. Every time that me and Isabel go, we see how happy the kids are to see us by waving, smiling, and greeting us. It seems like I will not stop seeing them because they get happy to see us. These recent days, they have seemed so happy, as well, because of the summer. On Friday, they went on a barbecue which must have been really fun at the park, but I would have to ask their experiences.

These days that I went with Isabel to help them recycle, I have observed that they actually know to recycle to make this world a better place whereas many of us, do not. Some students, to my opinion, can not differentiate as to where a can goes or trash goes, but these students have to correct the mistakes that others make and they actually know what to and not to recycle. Not only does this benefit the school, but it also benefits the students because they get the money to help pay with their food, and expenditures. It bothers me that some people do not think  that they are 'normal' enough to do most of the things that we can do and those people do need to actually volunteer with these students to understand that they are like we are. As a matter of fact, these students are great, they have great personalities and they are wonderful people like many of us.


Personally, I never knew that I would learn many things from these students and one thing I definitely learned from my experience is that, to never again used the "r" word because thinking about the actual connotations of the word, it is a word that hurts, not only the students, but the ones around them that really care. I remember that, personally, I used to use this word, but I learned to never use it again because I eventually learned that it was a deeply offensive word. I have tried to stop people from using that word and I have explained what it really means and some of them I have stopped, but some of them were really ignorant people. Some think that these students are what the stereotypes set them to be, but really once you get to know them they are probably the people that make you laugh and make your day. I really do encourage other students to get to know these students and stop the stereotypers. ALSO, PLEASE STOP THE USE OF THE "R" WORD!!!!!!!!!!!
