For my second volunteer opportunity I went with Jesse to Safeway to sell treats to people to support breast cancer. We were the only to participants for this one because Chen and Latrell were busy. There was a catch to us selling the treats, we had to wear bedazzled bras. We wear the bras because the women that walk in the 5k walk to spread awareness wear them. A lot of people did not know why an thought it was weir that we did wear them until they actually took time and talked to us and learned more about breast cancer ad about the walk.
It is important to support breast cancer because a lot of women have it and are being diagnosed with it every day it is an on going battle for a lot of women and they need all of the support they can get. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and she had a three year battle with it. It was amazing to see my aunt become such a strong person and fight it everyday. In 2007 she overcame it an there are no traces of cancer but she had to get her left breast taken out. If I had lost my aunt i would. My know what to do she is so close to me that is why I decided to team up with Jesse and support this Cause as much as I can.
I showed up early to help Jesse make the chocolate covered treats. We decided to not sell cupcakes do we can give more people variety and for us to have a chance to make more money for the cause. It is amazing how many women came up to us and thanks us for "doing such an amazing thing"
