What A Smooth Day

Once I got back to volunteering I came with Andy once again. This time Daniela didn't show up, but after talking to Daniela she had told me that the principle had gaven her a schedule/dates on when to come. Me and Andy just show up and volunteer and Mr.Hudson had no problem with that. Back to the same room, the kids were happy to see us again. They look at us like kids, just in bigger form and it funny how they talk to us like if we were in the same grade. Its pretty cool thats why I liked volunteering here, plus it brings me back a lot of good memories that I went threw that makes me the person I am today.

Going back to the room the kids that day were going to be reading individualy. I found out that it was a ELD afterschool program for those who have problems learning in class, or being too distracted. If the kids were reading they would ask for help, or help on understanding words that they didn't know. Thats where me and Andy came into place. We would circulate around the room untill the kids raise their hands and ask for help. Mostly the whole time it was quiet, but all the kids were reading outload silently. After everyone was done reading they were alowed to do any homework they have not completed the day before.

After knowing that the class was in a ELD program made me see that kids actually do need help. Them asking me for help or Andy, makes me feel like we are actually helping the kids that have trouble understanding subjects or reading. The day went great, kids completed their left over homework and the teachers let us go a bit early since we had the class going and actually helping constantly through out our hours. The teachers had told us that the next day the kids were going to be playing outside activites based on votes, so she told us not to miss out!
