i'm back

So for my fourth community service location I went ahead and volunteered at the Centerville Presbyterian Church again. I headed over there after school today, and since I've volunteered  here before, the ladies let me start as soon as I got there. I went and got my community service paper filled up, and was ready to lend a helping hand. There was a line like last time, but let me tell you.. This time it was a whole lot more, all sorts of people were standing in line, from ages 7 to elderly men and women. I went ahead to the kitchen and got my apron on, and came back into the front room to meet up with everyone so we can all say prayer. After that, like usual, we opened the doors and the people started rushing in.

This time around, I didn't only help set up things, the ladies at the church let me pass out food to all people that were in line. Which was a pretty cool experience, because I was actually being included and doing something hands on. It's crazy how this place is probably the only place some of these people can get a hardy meal at, and yet they weren't being greedy or picky at all. I was actually really inspired from their reactions. We were pretty much serving the same things as last time, but some people had donated ice cream, and I helped serve ice cream to all the little kids. This was a nice treat, especially on a hot day that today was.

I guess this organization also relates to poverty, not being able to fulfill your basic needs just because of a foolish thing like money. It's truly amazing to see these wonderful people, like me and you just being able to have somewhere to rely on. Some of these homeless people have such strong and fascinating personalities, to have such strong hope and faith in the world when they probably don't have anything except the clothes on their back and their family on their side. I'm glad I went here the first time, because that's what kept me coming back one last time. This church is filled with the sweetest staff and a great kind of energy that fills the place, I'm happy I took the time to volunteer here.

I think what you did is really helpful and is an important social issue to the world. I'm sure all those people that come there to get food really appreciates you.

I am sure that they all appreciate what you did there helping them out. I think it's good that you helped out the cause and they are probably very happy that you took the time to help them out and serve them.
