Dream catchers

Last week me and Edgar went to the Native American program. We got their and sat in a table where all the kids were at. We knew they had been testing so we asked them how that went. Most of the responses were just whinning, they said it was hard and boring. Others said it was easy and fun since they didnt get homework. Then Christina walked in and told us she had something fun planned. She put us in groups of three and gave us each a bag. She instructed us to take everything out of the bag and set it on the table. In the bag there was a circled branch, colorful yarn, string, beads, and feathers. She then said we were making dream catchers. Dream catchers have several meanings to different tribes. Some believe that dreams are sent by sacred spirits as messages and in the center of their Dream Catcher there is a hole which allow good dreams to reach the sleeper. As for bad dreams the web traps them and they disappear at dawn with the first light. I was really excited to make this although it was difficult. I had to have a lot of patience and try really hard not to mess up. After I was done doing the web I glued on the fathers and waited for them to dry.

It was so much fun making the Dream Catcher. What I enjoyed the most was learning about the Native American culture and what the dream catchers symbolize for them. I find their culture extremely intresting because they see the world in their own way they make everything have a meaning and a purpose.
