Like Father, Like Son

For the third volunteer work I volunteered at my Dad's work to help him out with a few electrical wiring through out his building. My Dad is always the one to be called on at his work because most people there dont know what's going on with problems and rely on him to fix it for them. He got called back to work on a late Saturday night and I asked to come along so I can do another volunteer work for this project. He agreed to take me and we headed off to Orical in Pleasonton. When we got there I had to put on a one piece suit and go into the electric room to fix what needed to be fixed.

As I came into the room I can see what my Dad has to deal with everytime he is called into work. We identified the problem in there and he gave me a few tools and told me what i needed to do. There was some exposed wire hanging out in one of the big machines so I had to remove it as much as I could and try to replace it with another one. After I stripped the wire a bit i finally pulled the exposed cord out and stripped a extra cord to attach it to the old one. It took a couple hours to do it all but it was finally done and I took off the suit and we headed back home.

This was great to be able to hang out with my Dad and see what he really does at his job here at Oracle. The social issue here was that there was some electrical problems that no one else in the building knew or wanted to do so my Dad and I helped out. If we didnt come or nobody else did, who would fix the problem and what could it lead to later on down the road? It' better that we did this because we solved a minor problem that could've lead to something bigger than it. Helping my Dad was great and i'm glad I could've been there to give him a break and help out.
