Today we went to play soccer outside after all the kids were done with their homework. We were divided in 2 teams both with 8 players on each team. It got really competitive even though it was a friendly game. I was surprised to see that some little kids were really good at playing soccer. I was on the opposite team as Oscar was and we both got really aggressive, but it was really fun. Both Oscar and I agreed that we were in bad condition because we were both out of breath and be both ended up get blisters on our feet because of our cleets. Ouch!
I ended up scoring after all the guys told me I wouldnt be able to score. I had a good time playing soccer with these kids. As I go back and help them more I get closer to them. Some of the little kids told me that they look up to me and that makes me want to go back and help them out.
I really like Prop 49 because it helps the kids focus on their education. Which now in days it is very easily for young kids to go to the wrong path. This program focuses on kids who need help with thier school work and they have teachers as well as high school students there to help them out.

heyyyy heidy! I think younger kids enjoy getting mentored by older kids because sometimes kids don't have anybody to look up too! i think this is a wonderful way to get involved as well as have fun! Kids can be amazing sometimes and just like anybody else they need attention and i think when helping out you give them that little attention that is needed!
I agree with you, Heidy! Prop 49 does give the kids not only to focus, but extracurricular activities to make them active. This program helps a lot for them because when i went there last year to help, some of them were really excited participating whereas others have days where they just mess around. Overall, I'm glad that you have helped because I believe that volunteers help Eddie, Garrett and other coordinators as well! I'm glad that not only did they get a benefit, but you had fun :)
