Cans For Show!
As the 9th annual car show at Washington High School was starting, the program was all about collecting cans so we could donate it to tri-city homeless shelter. We were getting short on collecting cans and the date was almost due. We were in a situation of buying cans with our own pockets because there was so much less donations. I decided to go around my neighbourhood with a flyer asking for people to donate cans, as I explained my cause to them. I got lucky enough to get cans from almost every house I went to. At, the end of the day I collected 32 cans subtracting the expired one's. Who gives expired cans of food?
Me and few other students had collected cans good enough for the shelter, and it was a new experience to me because I had never done anything like this. This helps to reach for equity because now people who aren't able to feed themselves or their families, people who has to stand out on the streets on pouring rain or sunlight to collect money to feed themselves now have food just like us. They might be suffering from some disease or have bad records so people won't hire them to work, so their is no source of income. This event helps them get food and not let them sleep with an empty stomach.

This is a great way to give back to your community, it allows you to get credit for community service and feed a family in need. Although this way of helping you dont get to directly help people, you know in your heart your effort is helping lots of hungry families. You did great!
