Auriana, Katrina, Zoe and I were at Tule Ponds again for Equity 3.0. Same thing as last time - what with the flirting ducks and the shovels and the annoying weeds with roots that appear to be made of steel.
This is irrelevant but we had a dirt/root fight, like a food fight... but with ugly, loner plants. It wasn't really a fight but Zoe and Katrina and Auriana were working uphill at some points, and we all had to put the weeds we got out in this blue recycle bucket thing, and so they'd throw them at the bucket from the uphill spot, and it would either get nowhere close or hit someone in the face. There were also earthworms, which were traumatized by us picking them up and cooing at them. Wait that was just Auriana...
Just as last time, we had many humorous and weird conversations - like discussing heavy metal music, and wondering if certain plants were weeds and deciding their fate based on their levels of ugly, and this theory that says that once you die you still have brain activity for seven minutes, and you supposedly re-experience your life in those seven minutes like a dream (since dreams aren't limited by time), and what if this is our seven minutes? We sang "All Star" by Smash Mouth, too. Somebody once told me... Wait you can't hear me.

There didn't appear to be nearly as many, or any of the same people from last time. And everyone else tends to be too "normal" to go anywhere near us over there so we're the forever alone group. It's still as fun as last time and as long there's work here I plan to stop by and help out.
There weren't many changes from last time's experience, except some minor ones.
One was I finally got over myself and asked the guy in charge what his name was out of curiousity. It was Brandon. But we'll probably still call him anon-beard guy.
| You diggin' that beard? |
Isn't that beard full of wonders?
In other news there were some ADORABLE ducks chilling in the water that would randomly come onto the land during our break.
| These ducks are cooler than you. |
Zoe and I also noticed the (silk?) worms inside the building for once. We took pictures with them because they're fabulous and SO SOFT. (Yes we stroked the worms)
I still don't feel like we're doing much as far as equity goes, but hey, this summer should be better. I plan to volunteer elsewhere aside from Tule Ponds, and by elsewhere I mean SF because all of the LGBT org's I want to volunteer with happen to be there.
Overall this is a great place.
Adios.

That seems like a great experience! It must also be fun to interact with the turtles that are there! It's really great that you all helped those turtles because many people don't look to help them and they need some more recognition. Great job and keep up all of the good work!
"Turtle turtle turtle..."
I already commented on Katrina's post, but yours looked so interesting I chose to comment here to! You guys look like you are having so much fun in all your posts and you are making such a difference to how our society looks. Someone has to keep the pond areas clean? Right? The ducks that you guys found were super cute, but the worms kinda grossed me out, lol. I hope you guys enjoyed and you are doing a good thing!
