(look at my title, aren't I so clever? ohoho)
The time came again last Saturday for Equity 03 (I should really get started on 02, shouldn't i?) , so Zoë, Auriana, Corrina, and I all trooped back to the Tule Ponds for more weed pulling. The supervisor/bearded dude (Brandon, we learned) didn't really have much for us to do, so he put us back on the same hill from last week to finish our work. It was pretty fun, like last time, though I was still baffled by my choice to wear pants instead of shorts. Watch, next time I"ll wear shorts and we'll be stuck in some thorny balckberry bush again.

This time the work was easier, since we had gotten the hang of it from the week before. We made a little game of sorts with the weeds, since the weed bin was at the bottom of the hill. We would dig up a weed, and then make everyone stop and watch while we tried to throw it in to the bucket. I think we all learned that we have pretty bad aim. But aside from that, the conversations were interesting, the work was satisfying, the ducks were friendly, and by the time we finished I was feeling pretty good.

We had a lot of time after we finished working to wait to be picked up, in which we pretty much messed around with Corrina's camera and reflected on the project. I still feel like the work we're doing each week is rewarding and worth the effort to help the environment at the Tule Ponds, though I wonder if the supervisor/bearded dude/Brandon is even giving us jobs that mean something or he just doesn't want to do himself. It's still fun either way.

Every time I see the posts from you guys volunteering, it always seems like you guys are having a lot of fun. It was funny when you said the "ducks were friendly" LOL. I like how you guys turn your work into a game, so you guys are getting your work done but enjoying it at the same time. I hope you guys enjoyed and you are doing a great thing!
I think this was a really interesting social issue to focus on. This seems like a lot of hard work and I commend you guys for focusing your social issue on it! Not many students would choose something that involves pulling weeds and working in the hot like that. It seems like you guys have a lot of fun volunteering your time at the pond so good job and keep up the good work! :)
