Time for an Adventure

For my third volunteer set, I decided to join Latrell as he helped out at Niles Elementary's Adventure Time Program. I was the most excited for this since I was able to hang out with the cutest little kids ever and help them out. After school, I got Latrell to drive me to the school. We parked by the side and walked into the playground. Latrell asked Christy, the runner of the Adventure Time program, if we could volunteer and she was more than happy to let us hang out with the kids. She told us to go inside since the children were just starting their homework.

This is what the inside of the building looked like. There were tons of kids in there doing homework, eating, playing, etc. All of the kids seemed pretty shy but once we started talking to some of them they were easy to talk to. Latrell had a little buddy that really liked him and we talked to him for awhile as he sat down and ate his snack. We walked around seeing if we could help any of them with their homework. But after awhile we wanted to go outside and play with them. We didn't really know what to do so we kind of just stood there. But Latrell started playing Butts Up with all the little boys on the wall-ball wall. They thought he was the coolest guy ever. After standing there watching for awhile I decided to play with them. I never realized how precious these little kids were because they said that I wasn't allowed to be out and I didn't have to run to the wall if I dropped it. The kids were so full of energy and were so excited to play with us.

Here is a good picture of Latrell with his prodigies.
He refuses to take off his hood.

I decided to go hang out with girls because I thought this was weird. So as I talked to some of the boys, Anthony pointed out his little sister and I started to talk to her. She was the cutest little girl ever omg. She was jump roping by herself so I felt bad and started to talk to her. Her name was Kaley and she was really talkative after awhile. She was so little and only a kindergartener but she was so smart.
She thought she was really good at tricks and hula hooping.

.

SO ADORABLE!!!!!!!

After awhile there was another girl that decided to hang out with us but she was mean and kept on trying to have me to herself. I felt really popular. I noticed that girls are really mean to eachother at such a young age. Like I don't really understand why since they are only in like 2nd grade at the oldest. A lot of girls were alone so it made me sad. I met this cute little kindergartener named Michalina but the mean girl didn't let her play with us so she just jump roped by herself. After a couple of hours I got exhausted since these kids have so much energy. Latrell and I decided to leave and go home and sleep. This was honestly one of the best volunteering experiences I've ever had in my life. I enjoy hanging out with kids younger than me since they're so fun and open to meet new people. You can learn a lot from a kid that's younger than you. I'm more than positive I'll come back to Adventure Time since I had such a great experience.

I wonder who decorated the library like that, it looks so like studying mood because, it's not just empty.
Even I don't get there idea of being mean at such a young age. As in my opinion probably because of the older people they interact to and look up to. I t was really nice of you to go and help this kids with their homework. I seen that young people always loves when we play with them and interact with them.
