LeeTee is back!

In my previous blog post, I made a video about helping a patient named LeeTee who was a blind african american lady in her fifties or so. In the previous blog video I shot footage of us bonding and doing entertaining activities such as spelling bees. This time around, I came again to volunteer. We changed it up and this time I brought Daniella along with me. During our two hour session period, we went into LeeTee's room with arts and crafts that we had just bought from Michael's for her to show us her artistic ability she had been telling me. In my first visit, she had told me that she wanted a frame to put her picture in next to her bed. With that, I took it into consideration and went out to Michael's and bought her a build-your-own wooden frame! This way she can accessorize it all she wants!
So helping LeeTee paint her yellow frame was not as bad as I thought it would be. Her being blind made me think that it'd be really difficult for her to paint the frame. LeeTee was able to feel around the frame and know what went where. So it wasn't very hard for her to paint in between the lines at all. She had a lot of fun during our little arts and crafts session. She told Daniella and I how lucky she was to have us with her which made us feel very welcomed and part of family.
When her painting was drying, her roommate LOVES to color and has tons of coloring books. So, LeeTee told us that during the meantime of her wooden frame drying, she wanted to color. Daniella and I were astonished because being a blind woman we didn't really think she knew where and what to color in. As she colored, we were amazed by her artistic ability on her coloing in the lines.
Overall I'm really glad that I got to volunteer again the second time around with LeeTee and Daniella because I felt like I did something good in someone elses life which boosted my confidence. I will forsure volunteer for the third time around with LeeTee for my next blog post!
