For my last and final day, it was very upsetting. I showed up to the field and I wasn’t so sure
if I had the time to keep volunteering there, but I want to. It was very difficult for me though. I got attached to these little girls so
easily. Anyway, we started on with the
usually passing drill warm up, and everything was all fun and good. Girls would show up late and coach would get
annoyed very easily, which kept me entertained.
After a good warm up, stretch, and run the girl went to go get
water.
After the girls go there water, I set up two lines of
cones. I decided that we were going to
have a little competition. I divided the
girls into two teams. They went through
the obstacle two times each and had to only use the outsides of their feet to start
off. It was a challenge for some of the
girls, and a lot would get side tracked easily.
They would go out of there lines and talk to each other and not focus on
the drill and the fact that it was a competition. I told them to try and cheer on their own
teams and they started to listen more.
It was difficult cause coach Mark was off busy with another girl who
came late and I was in charge. And I’m
not the coach so the girls didn’t think they really had to listen to me. I would say that was the difficult part of
helping out with that team.
Relays and obstacles like that were the main parts of the
practice for today. I will say though I
really miss those girls already, I wish I could stay around more but it is
difficult juggling that, school, and my own soccer team. It was a good experience though to work with
the generation below me to see little of what they’re like, and connect with
them. I made some new friends too, so
that was nice. They wanted me to be more
than just their coach; they wanted to know about my personal life and
everything. It was a fun experience
though and I’m glad I volunteered there for my project I will most likely be
going back to do more.
Last day with all of the girls.

Maddie, this is so cute! Would you ever consider being a soccer coach? I like how you volunteered to help out kids who like soccer and it's good that you're doing something you love doing and applying it to the goodness of society.
If you had fun, I think you should keep going back, especially if you feel like you formed a bond with them. I probably would have enjoyed my childhood more if I had an elder figure that wasn't my parents, so maybe these girls can benefit from your company.
