Easter Basket

Easter basket

It was a couple weeks before Easter when I got involved with the make a difference foundation. My whole church got involved in the process of setting up Easter dinners for people in need as time went by we got more and more food. Foods included canned things, cake mix, Easter egg dying kit, and whatever possible to give to a family in need who otherwise wouldn’t have the resources to  have a family dinner.
As the process begun our goal of 18 bags of food seemed pretty scary because it’s not a bag for a person we needed a bag per family. As the foods came in they were left at our kitchen separated from our foods. The Sunday before Easter was the day we were packing each bag at first it doesn’t seem hard but once you get started there are certain items that don’t go good together like beans and potatoes, not a good combo. As time went on and packing became efficient we noticed there was a lot more food and bags than first expected. All bags contained 2 canned items, a cake mix, a dyeing kit and ham.  As packing begun to become fast and successful, we also came to realize not only we meet our 18 bag goal but we had 3 extra bags for other families and extra food was put onto each bag since we had such a large amount of extra cans and items.

Ham  station all Hams were placed
 into reusable bags by themself.
These hams were huge and heavy
and akwardly shaped.

The next morning, while I was at school we had the youth staff drop off the foods and by late afternoon all the families had received their Easter basket.
This kind of events help us really appreciate the little thing in life. That night before we left we took a moment to appreciate the ability to do this for these families without these donations these families wouldn’t have had the same Easter.
