Day three, I couldn’t have been anymore excited. These girls really finally had grown on me
and I remembered all their names, it was about time. This practice was about passing and some scrimmaging. I was also able to help the goalies out with
what they needed, because I use to play goalie.
Mark said he was surprised seeing me come back again, I’m pretty sure
that was sarcasm but it was funny. We
finally got to the point where me and him and just joke around a lot and be
sarcastic and it’s not weird and it’s okay.
All the girls are officially comfortable around me, so it
makes my job a lot more fun and easier to do.
This practice they did something called flying changes. There were three different teams, two would
be playing at once and the other would sit out.
If you were the team that scored, you stayed on, but if you lost that round
you went off and the next team would come out.
The point of this girl was for the girls to get use to the speed of the
game, and it helped out the goalies that really needed help. There was one girl, named Emilee, and she use
to play goalie but she hasn’t because last year she broke her hand from
it. Emilee has been really scared of the
ball lately at practice, and this was the first time I’ve seen her be put in
goal. She was terrified; she didn’t want
to go to it or anything. I was trying to
think of a creative way to help her change that, because when she needed to
jump on the ball, she wouldn’t. I told
her to pretend the ball was a cookie; it looked like a cookie, smelled like a cookie,
and tasted like a cookie. If that wasn’t
going to work for her I was going to make her a ball that looked like a cookie I. She really loved cookies so this kind of
helped her, its something she wanted, and when you really want something you’ll
do whatever to get it. This worked for
to, it made me happy.
Once again, another successful day with something that I love
doing. I wouldn’t ask to do a different
job, it is a great way for me to bond with today’s youth, and be a good role
model. Teach them what to do and what
not to do on and off the field.

That's great that you're helping those little girls Maddie! It's great that you are helping them with something that you too are passionate about. Bonding with them seems to really make you happy and you seem to be making them happy too! Keep up the great work!
It's good to see that you're getting so involved with these girls and helping them improve their soccer skills. I know you also play soccer so it's beneficial for you as well when you're doing this sort of volunteer work. I'm not surprised that these girls see you as a role model, I hope you continue to have good experiences with them!
