I decided to return to Cabrillo Elementary School this past week. I went for two day, Wednesday and Thursday. This week was very different from last week because most kids didn't have any homework due to start testing. Even though most kids didn't have homework, we still tried helping out the few that did. They all seemed to be in the same classroom so there wasn't much to help with.
I was in for a surprise on Wednesday when the kids were telling me that they played soccer in the field every Wednesday. I wasn't too sure of the idea because i hadn't played soccer in a couple of years but i ended up having a blast! Most of the kids really get into it. Since there was 4 teenage volunteers we got split evenly, 2 on the orange team and 2 on the yellow team. I played for the orange team along with Luis. The kids on our team where really excited because we were going to play with them. I had a great time playing soccer and of course team orange won this game.
The next day I came in was almost like any other day. Most kids were back to their regular schedule doing homework or in another activity. Most kids were making art projects for Mothers Day. They had cut outs of tea pots with lines for them to write a short letter to theirs mothers. Even though I didn't get to make one myself for my mom, I still had a great time helping the smaller ones coloring and fixing their grammar for them. I think I will be returning for my next two hours next week. Every time I go have a better time.
