This week, we did plenty of cleaning in their classroom last school is about to end. There were about four groups of people at each counter to organize the plates, forks, trays, ects. One of the staff said, "How many plates do you guys have over there?" Than I saw Shubeendu trying his best to count all the plates, but he got stuck and didn't know what number was next, so one of the staff helped him out. Usually kids wouldn't want to be proven wrong, but Shubeendu actually wanted to learned how to count. He kept on saying, "What's next? What's after 7?" And the staff was pretty patient with him, which is the key to work with these students.
Nowadays, people usually aren't that thoughtful anymore. People are being more selfish, and they just don't care about anybody. On the other hand, these wonderful students showed me what caring is like. For example, one time Alxea, Isabel, and I was supposed to play basketball with Shubeendu and Alex, but Alex didn't go to school that day. Shubeendu kept on telling us "It's okay! Alex will come, we'll wait for him!" We agreed to wait inside the classroom. The whole time we were waiting, I would see Shuebeendu walking in and out of the classroom to see if Alex has arrived. He was also walking around the classroom like he was worried about Alex. Shubeendu asked me "Alex is okay right? He told me he was sick but he'll come to school he said." I tried to comfort him, because he looked to sad. There's never a day where I don't see Alex and Shubeendu together -- they're bestfriends!!! People should really look at these students the way I see them. This shouldn't be a stereotype thing just because they're labeled as "special ed student" because they're just like us.
Megan helping Isabel organizing the dishes.
Andy listening to his teacher. Megan trying to pay attention. Isabel and Alxea laughing. And me organizing the plates.
Andy, Shubeendu, and I are trying to listen to the instruction.
Isabel, Andy, and I are trying to search for a certain item that's needed while Shubeendu is spacing out.
Getting the pans all orgainzed to be put inside the cabinets!
Alex, Sheena, Shubeendu, and I are taking a picture during lunch. They ran up to me when they saw me, :) Too cute.

I think that we do a great job helping these students although it may not seem like much, but to my view, I believe one smile that we can put when they see is the best for them. That is really sweet of them to take a picture during lunch... :)
I think that what you are doing is great. You are interacting with students at our school and helping them with anything they need help with. I know that they really appreciate what you are doing to help them.
