The movie “Easy A” is a recent trending topic for young teens. It relevant and important to this culture analysis because it came out in 2010 and became a major hit. The movie is part of a trend that has been building up for a long period of time. It portrays the role of a girl in high school and how she has to act, look, and experience to be "normal", which has been the ideology of everyone who is entering and in high school since the 60’s. It has shaped the actions of people in high school because it affects the way they act in situations and what they would do to fit in. This movie at first supports the ideology of what image a girl has to or should have in high school, but then towards the end it goes against this racism and stereotyping, as she realizes that she doesn’t have to go with the grain to be normal and fit in or be happy. It shows that American ideology hasn't changed for many years, since if you watch old movies that are concerning high school, you will see that the girls always have a certain image portrayed, usually from gossip and lies spreading or by their own actions.
In the movie, there is a girl named Olive( played by Emma Stone) who has an innocent reputation and is pretty much invisible in high school because she has never done anything bad. After a while she gets tired of being unnoticed and lectured by her best friend to get a life and says a lie about a crazy weekend where she slept with a college guy (when really she stayed home and did nothing). But, when someone overheard her lie, it spread throughout the whole school and she instantly became the "school slut". When Olive realizes that her lie spread through school she decided to go along with it. When her gay friend asks to confirm the rumor, she tells him the truth. He gets an idea and asks her to have pretend sex so his rep can get better, because when a guy sleeps with a girl he's known as a player. Soon, all the school rejects get in on her secret and ask her to have a fling with her to show people that they can get a girl also. The gossip and rumors spread and soon Olive changes her whole appearance to fit her new status. In the process she looses her best friend and the respect of other people. She realizes that this new rep wasn't worth loosing everything, so she sets up a song performance at a pep rally and tells the whole truth. At the end, her crush comes riding in on a lawnmower and takes her away just as she wanted all along.
In the movie Olive goes through two different phases during the make of her new bad reputation. At first she enjoyed the attention and thought that this rumor she spread about herself was the best idea ever. Then, as she looked back at her old life, she missed it. "Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life." This quote shows what she really wanted from this experience all along. In real life, your social reputation is important, for some more than others. Gossip and rumors can either help it or destroy it, and the more known or "popular" you are the more they are spread. Some people enjoy the attention and others despise it. The movie shows that you are known in high school from your bad deeds more than your good. People look at you different if you are the "rebellious" type, and they are also always looking for drama to spread to make their lives more interesting. "I used to be anonymous, invisible to the opposite sex. If Google Earth were a guy couldn't find me if I was dressed up as a 10-story building." I like how in the end she does realize that the stereotypes that people tried to put on her was not worth loosing things that were important to her before. For people just entering high school, or for those who are already in it, this movie is a reminder that you should stay true to who you are and what you believe in because in the end, it you that has to live your life.

i love this movie !
and it is true that it's hard to fit in in high school so some people act a certain way to fit in and that's how its always been and it does mirror us how we act today. and that was on point, how society is today.
i love it !
