Beyonce

Pop icon Beyonce (Beyoncé Giselle Knowles) is relevant to today’s popular culture because of the poignant lyrics to her songs, her inspirational and entertaining performances, and motivating actions. Beyonce’s music has a lot of meaning behind it; each song with an individual message. Many people enjoy Beyonce as an entertainment artist because of the effort she puts into her passion to try to make girls feel more superior and stronger than society makes them to be. Beyonce is known as a strong and independent woman by many people in our society, especially girls who look up to her as their idol. Aside from her amazing singing career, Beyonce's model figure and sophisticated facial features inspires women that they can achieve anything they want. Not only does Beyonce’s songs relate to many other people, but she is also an amazing dancer who knows how to light up the stage. The common ideology of society today shows that men are more powerful than women, that women don’t have as much power as men do, and women should support the men. The reason why many women look up to Beyonce as their idol is because she stands up for what she believes in and will continue doing so until people change their perspective towards women.

Beyonce wasn’t famous from the start however, she worked very hard as a child and in the late 1990’s became the lead singer of an R&B group called Destiny’s Child. After Destiny's Child split up, Beyonce continued on her career as a solo artist. Not only did she release her own debut solo album, but also won many Grammy Awards for her accomplishments. Beyonce was the first woman to be awarded the International Artist award and was listed as the most successful female and top radio artist of the 2000s decade. Since her career began as a recording artist, Beyonce’s reputation and life had only gone uphill.

Beyonce recently made a new song called, “Run the World” which talks about how women are the strongest people in our society and without women, there is no one to keep the world together. In the song, Beyonce constantly repeats the lyrics “Who run the world? Girls!” to emphasize the fact that without girls, the whole world wouldn’t function properly. She also says “My persuasion can build a nation, Endless power, our love we can devour” to point out that girls are in fact great enough to build their own nations and societies with the endless power that they have. Another one of Beyonce’s songs is called “Irreplaceable” in which she says “So don’t you ever for a second get to thinking you’re irreplaceable” to tell men that women are strong independent people who don’t need a man by her side to make her happy. She also says that “Baby I won’t shed a tear for you, I won’t lose a wink of sleep ‘Cause the truth of the matter is replacing you is so easy” to show how powerful woman actually are and how nothing, especially men, is worth their tears. Beyonce's music does more than just inspire, it motivates and makes people realize just how important woman are to our society.

I agree that whenever I think of Beyonce I think of a strong and independent woman. I like when you said that men are trying to push their dominance in the world but Beyonce is an example of women sticking up for their equality. I enjoyed reading... GOOD JOB ! (:
