Young, Wild, and Free (M.T.V show ''Skins")

The television show SKINS on M.T.V is supposed to be known as an American teen drama. It's an adaptation of a same show from a British television. The original run was from January through March, but as first season ended M.T.V recently announced that season 2 will be canceled because they think that show did not connect with the U.S. Skins was really controversial because throughout the show all they did was be stereotypical about the teens we have today. If you’ve watched the show not one episode didn't have Sex, Drugs, and Party. Although they wanted to bring us to the world of teens and what they go through, and takes us to deeper innings in each individual characters and what we don’t know throughout the major possibilities regarding the teen life. This is the part where America does not agree and that is why season 2 was canceled. The show itself was not accepted from plenty of others, because although they were trying to show us what really is reality towards teens, the resistance ideology strives towards other teens today that have watched that show. But the fact that they show this type of genre, it attracts people, mostly teens to make it seem that what they are doing is fun and people should do it. But the resistance part is some teens out there still find it disturbing and that it will disgust them to even do something like this even though they enjoy the show, but some teens fallows the path that the teens in this show goes through and this is why some people out there was strongly against the show. This reflected the parents teenager children to another fun thing to do even though its wrong.

Skins complies on 10 major teenager characters that puts them in individual characteristics towards the main shows objective way in the subject matter. The characters are Tony known as the leader of the group of friends they were in, Michelle and Tea who ends up falling in love with Tony, best friends with benefits Daisy and Abbud, Stanley who has a secret crush on Michelle, Cadie who is hooked on pills that apparently brings her to another world, and Eura and Chris that basically the schools crazy students. Their world technically relies on sex and drugs and sometimes parties. Every episode brought up different characters that showed us the life that teen had such as popularity, third party love affairs, addiction of any controlled substance, homosexuality, family problems, insecurities, depression etc. And to get away from those problems the teens had they made drugs or alcohol their first priorities on making them feel better, and each episode also showed that.

For me, yes I did watch the show because it was really interesting and it was really addicting to watch well that’s from what I think. I looked forward on every episode that was coming up especially when they came up with a teaser at the end of every show, that part would get me really excited and makes me look forward on the fallowing week. One episode was with Stanley and his insecurities on feelings he had with Michelle and to get out of the box he was in, he tried being hardcore and started to do things he normally would have not done, and that was when he smoked weed and starting selling drugs just to be noticed by Michelle. And I find that really wrong, just because you weren’t getting what you wanted doesn’t mean you can mess up your life and put it in risk, this reflects to the teens that are watching it because it gives ideas that, that’s what they should do to make them feel better even though there are a lot more better things in life that you can do. Yes maybe it have gotten me on wanting to do what they did in the shows but because they also showed the consequences that can happened when you do this it brought me to the better person in me that would not want to do what I’ve seen in that show.
