Also from this unit I learned about the two widely known activist who's methods of peace were different, but had the same goal; Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. MLK's method was to use non-violence like others and also inspired many people with his famous 'I have a dream' speech. While we looked more into the speech i realized how powerful and moving his speech was towards black and white people. It was truly inspiring and moved a lot of people into helping out his cause. Malcolm X had a different plan for achieving equality. He was going to use any means necessary in order to achieve freedom. Both of these men had great ideas and moved a lot of people to join in their cause and succeeded in the end.
This unit has been a different experience for me and glad I have learned more about the horror that our nation used to bring on people who were different. This has really shown me how ugly our nation use to be and still is today. People then and now were and are getting beat just for being a different race then someone else. Back then hate crimes existed and even today they still exist. People of all races have fought hard in order to achieve equality and acceptance in their communities. Some even today fight for their rights and are doing their best in order to win their freedom and rights. It's an ugly world that we live in, but we need to help out to make the world a more beautiful place to live in .

Yes, it is an ugly world we live in. Yes, we need to help out to make the world a more beautiful place to live in. What can we do? All we can do is to stand up for yourself, and accept YOURSELF for others to accept you, too. You can't expect people to accept you, when you can't even yourself. Speak up, but loudly. That's the only way to get things done.
